So I've been really sewing for almost a year. Well, I took a long break for about 6 months LOL. But it's been a year since I started sewing. I was just reading the "About Me" section and it said "I hope one day I can make something for me to actually wear to work...
Well, that hope is now happening. I can actually sew some shirts that I can wear to public and proud to say that I made it. Thanks to my Dad, my very own sewing teacher.
Now, next goal is to make the inside of the garments look nice haha...
So now my closet has 2 dresses and 5 shirts that I made for myself that I can actually wear. WOW!!! This is a miracle for me. I can't believe that one day I can actually sew something for me.
Actually I have so many more goals
- make the inside look nice
- learn to make a skirt
- learn to make pants
- learn to sew with thin sheer fabric
- learn to make sleeves
- learn to make a traditional Vietnamese long dress aodai
...
...
so many more to learn
...
I hope Dad will pass to me everything he knows =)
Seems like I'm the only one in the family who's interested in sewing.
This time last year, I asked my husband's aunt, who graduated from fashion / design school, that how long will it take for me to sew a dress for me to wear, or sew a wedding dress like she did for herself for her wedding. --- I can't make a wedding dress, but I can make a dress haha... So, I guess the answer is 1 year.
By the time my daughter gets married, I can make her a wedding dress with no problem.

Hippie Flower Peplum Top
Well---
First I wanted to make a dress, but it turned out like a maternity dress so I changed it to a shirt.
Plus, some coworkers and my husband told me the print on the fabric is too much for a dress, so that's another reason why I made it into a shirt instead =)
Invisible zipper again. Piece of cake. The back match up perfect. Miracles do happen sometimes!!!

Red Shirt Peter Pan Collar
I saw this New Look pattern and really like the look
http://www.simplicity.com/p-8592-misses-blouse-and-skirt.aspx
I didn't buy the pattern though. Made it myself, maybe that's why it doesn't look as nice. This is my first time sewing collar ever. And it is kindda hard. =( I did the bias on the sleeves and that took quite a bit of time also. The 2 black lines in the front, didn't buy the rickrag whatever it's called, I used my black bias. I made the bias tape myself, that took some time too.
Started this at 8 pm, sewing sewing sewing until 2:30 am and had to go to bed, my eyes couldn't open no more haha.
This morning I add another hour to the project, but maybe need another 30 mins to fix the zipper in the back. It's kindda loose for me at the waist line.
Anyway, I am proud of me, but not very happy with the finished project. It doesn't fit very well.
Sorry the picture are blurry. My almost 4 year old daughter needs some photography lessons. Haha
Here are my pictures. The collar turned out good, but the darts are not right. Saddddddd
This is the only black and white polka dot skirt I have. =)
Didn't put my make up on so I rather cut my head off from the pictures rather being scary looking haha. I don't want to scare you away.

Blue Peplum Top
I think this style is in now for a year or so, but I don't own one. Got back into sewing and decided to make this top.
First invisible zipper ever. The only thing is that I had to redo the zipper part 3 times. First time I put in the matching blue regular zipper. I ordered my invisible zipper foot on ebay and it came. So I went to Joann to buy a blue invisible zipper. But the zipper was too short and I can't fit the shirt over my shoulder. So took it out. Went to SAS fabric and bought the blue zipper, long enough size. Sewn it on the shirt and voila.
The invisible zipper foot is so easy to attach to the shirt. I love it.
My almost 4 year old daughter took the pictures for me on my phone- the result is === blurry.

Start Sewing Again
It's been sooooo many months ---
I'm back on track again. Working on a peplum shirt, should be done tonight or tomorrow and will post it up to share.
Not sure why all my pictures are gone now, just showing the X
