Turquoise Shiny Shirt

I finished this I think 3 days ago but didn't have a chance to take pictures.  It's shiny, so it makes me look fat.  And yeah, it looks like it's a maternity shirt, too.  But I like it.  My husband actually said it's a nice one.  Maybe in real life it looks better than in pictures.  But I know for sure I will be wearing this next month for the Me Made May 13 challenge.

The neckline turned out pretty good.  I like it.  It was a little big, so I put elastic and ta-da!!!

Kayly's Pink Hearts Nightgown

Last Saturday I bought 7 different knitt fabrics to make nightgowns for her.  You see those piles on the sofa?  Those are the fabric.  She choose which one I make next for her.  This time was the pink hearts.  She already told me, the next one would be the flamingos one.

I woke up at 5:30 on a Saturday and started sewing on her nightgown.  Finished at 6:40.  Went back to bed haha...  at 7:45 she woke up and saw the new dress on the sofa and wanted to wear it on right away.   "Mommy, I want to wear this forever." said Kayly.

That makes me happy.

She's making funny faces today.

This was when she said "No more pictures, Mommy!"

Me-Made-May ' 13

So, I've seen this popping up every where...and have also been wondering if I should sign up for this challenge.  I don't have enough things that I make to wear 7 days a week...  but I was reading some of the sign-ups, and some people were saying only 2 days a week, or 3 days a week or so.
Oh, this I can do.  I might have to repeat wearing my clothes over and over again but this will be fun.

So here's my pledge:

'I, Lily, of Lily Can Sew, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '13. I endeavour to wear my "made by me" garments for atleast two times a week for the duration of May 2013'

I forgot to mention that only somewhere on my body will have the "made by me" garment.  Not the whole outfit.

This is my first year doing this, and I'm scared.  Maybe I should just say 1 time a week haha, that is only 4 things.  But I said 2 times a week, that is 8 things that I need to find.  So, quickly in my head I am trying to count how many items I have.

Today I'm wearing my black and white dress to work, I can wear it again next month.

Let me try to list some that I know I can wear.

1-  Blue circle flowers shirt
2-  Black and white big floral print dress
3-  Pink vine dress
4-  The yellow top I made a long time ago, I think it was my "first official shirt"
5-  The" First Dress" I made last year
6-  The Pink black floral dress
7-  The ugly mini aodai --- I'll have to find something else to replace this one
8-  Hippie flower peplum top
9-  Blue peplum top  --- OK, this will replace the ugly mini ao dai
10- I have the first black and white dress called "unzip my dress"
11- I have the blue green collar dress but can't wear it, after I washed and dried it, it shrunk to children's size
12- Oh, I forgot my purple half circle dress, yay!!!

OK, this is good now.  I have 10 things to wear.  Maybe from now til then I'll make more and can wear more.  Yay!!!
So excited!!!  Now I'm ready!

I gave 2 shirts away to my sister, the black and red peter pan collar one, and the "new job shirt" one.

Now I'm excited!!!

Maybe I'll cheat and make a simple nightgown for me to wear, it counts too right?  LOL  haha

Kayly's Ladybug Nightgown

Another nightgown for her.  I put all this together in 45 minutes.  Not bad.  Except it would be faster if the knit fabric don't roll so much.  It was rolling like crazy.  It's thin, comfortable for her to wear at night time, but it takes so much time to unroll it at the edge.

Same old style, that's why it's easy and fast.  =)

Kayly's Green Nightgown

It is getting hot here and the dresses I made for her last year are really short on her now.  So I have to make some dresses for her to wear to sleep at night.  The weather here is in the 90's.  I bought this knit fabric from SAS for 1.99 a yard.  I can make 2 dresses with 1 yard.  I think I bought 7 different fabrics for her so it looks like I'm going to take a break sewing for myself, and sewing for Kayly instead.

This is a little too big on her, but oh well, it's for bed time, so it's loose and comfy.  Maybe it will fit her for the next 2 years haha!!!

She just had her 4th birthday so we still have the decorations up.

Ugly Mini Ao Dai Blue

This is a modern style of the traditional Vietnamese long dress Ao Dai.  I made it shorter so it's a mini version.  But it's so ugly.  The fabric is ugly, and the whole thing is just ugly.  Doesn't fit me right, so now it looks like it's pajamas.
I was going to wear this to work but... guess not.

Blue Circle Flowers Shirt

This is the 2nd time I'm making a shirt with sleeves.  These sleeves are CORRECT!!!  =)

My dad taught me how to draw  CORRECT sleeves haha

First I did it but it wasn't right, I had to make it with gather on the top of the shoulders, then he told me to take it out and re-do it, make it right.
So, another day ripping things apart and re-sewing.

Ta-da!!!

I like it!

Oh, I am running out of "words" to use for my TITLE.  So I'm just going to start describing the "prints and colors" on the finished project.

=)

I also cleaned my house, and found a new spot for me to pose.  =)

Black and White Dress

I found the picture of this dress on overstock.com and I printed it out hoping I will make it one day.

I go on the internet and find dresses that I like from overstock, modcloth, dillards... Then I copy the picture and print them out, put them in a 3 ring binder.  Kindda like my own catalog.  =)

And here is my version.
I actually finished this a few days ago but been so sick and haven't had a chance to take pictures.  I drafted my own pattern.  =)

How did I do???
